Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are celebrating their 30th year of friendship with a massive tour across the U.S. This series of shows is set to deliver hilarious anecdotes, sensational jokes, and jaw-dropping punchlines. The two comedians have been friends since the ‘90s. They first met in an improv set in Chicago. The theater’s founder introduced them to each other, and the rest was history. Poehler and Fey took classes and even auditioned together. Fey and Poehler worked together in Saturday Night Live. Fey, who worked with SNL for almost a decade, recruited Poehler, and she finally joined the cast in 2001. This was the first time audiences saw the pair on a major comedy program on TV. Poehler joined Fey on the Weekend Update, where the two comedians served as co-anchors. The tandem was such a hit that SNL focused on female-driven sketches. Their time with SNL has brought them numerous accolades, including multiple Emmy nominations. In 2002, Fey won her first Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series. Poehler won her first Emmy years later when she and Fey returned to SNL as a guest. Her short stint bagged her the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series.
After their time with SNL, Fey, and Poehler moved on to headlining their own critically-acclaimed sitcoms. Fey joined the cast of 30 Rock, while Poehler starred in Parks and Recreation. Fey’s time with 30 Rock has won her numerous awards, including her second Emmy and three Golden Globe Awards. Meanwhile, Poehler also won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series in 2013.
