A beloved icon in the Asian-American community, JIMMY O. YANG’s work has inspired and made an impact around the world. “🚨New Tour, new material, Bigger and Taller than ever,” Yang wrote on Instagram.
Praised and loved for his observational humor and highly-relatable tales surrounding the Asian-American community, he dives deep into the everyday mundane, stereotypes, culture, and of course a little self-deprecation in the mix. Laid-back yet beaming with fun, he’s got that TALL guy energy you can’t resist!
In 2023, he released his special “Guess How Much” on Amazon Prime, met with massive success. Ya’ll just can’t help but stream his hilarious content. Featuring “BTS, love languages, loser friends and negotiating with his Asian parents,” it’s a relatable piece packed with his personal touch on pop culture. The venue can’t help but laugh out loud.
From juggling jobs and stand-up sets for free, the man has come a long way. Though his work is largely about poking fun at anything he finds amusing, it’s also time to take Yang a little more seriously… Starring in Hulu’s upcoming series “Interior Chinatown”, you’ll get to see a different side to the comic’s cheeky persona.
“I want to do something that's meaningful to me, to the community, something that's subverting expectations,” he wrote in an email to his agents back in 2021 as the world started opening up after the height of the pandemic, as cited from his conversation with GQ. “I want to kick ass in something without anybody laughing. I want to die in something without it being funny.”
Now that’s something to look forward to. He might even talk about this at his upcoming stand-up tour. In the meantime, you can definitely expect fun and games as he preps for the BIG AND TALL TOUR.
