R&B and soul icon Kem has been belting out platinum and gold-selling albums since releasing his debut album, Kemistry, in 2003. The Nashville-born performer wrote, produced, and released his debut album in 2001. He was later signed to the major record label Motown Records, and Kemistry was re-released two years later. The album features the hit single “Love Calls,” which made a breakthrough into the Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. It later sold over 500,000 copies, earning Kem his first gold record.
In 2005, Kem released his follow-up effort, Album II. The critically-acclaimed record soared to number 5 on the Billboard 200 and topped the R&B chart. The album featured several notable tracks, including the lead single “I Can’t Stop Love You.” The song dominated various contemporary R&B radio stations in the U.S., leading to the album’s success. Album II later sold over one million copies and was certified platinum in the U.S.
Kem moved on to release several more brilliant records, including the gold-certified album Intimacy: Album III. This 2023, he’s set to promote his latest effort, Love Always Wins, which was released in 2020.
Co-headliner Ledisi is known for her fantastic infusion of jazz and R&B. She emerged in 1995 and performed at the local clubs in New Orleans with her old band. In 2002, she re-released her debut album, Soulsinger: The Revival. The album spawned four critically-acclaimed singles, including the title track. In 2007, Ledisi made her first breakthrough with her fourth album, Lost & Found. The record peaked at number 10 on Billboard’s R&B chart and performed moderately well on Billboard 200. Lost & Found featured several chart-performing singles, such as “Alright,” “In The Morning,” and “Joy.”
Two years after her amazing breakthrough, Ledisi dropped Turn Me Loose. The 2009 album became her first record to hit number 1 when it topped the Top R&B Albums chart. In 2021, Leidis dropped her latest effort, Ledisi Sings Nina. The album was preceded her first number-1 single, “Anything For You.” The song, which later won a Grammy Award for Best Traiditon R7B Performance, was later re-released as a duet with Grammy Award-winning artist PJ Morton.
